What is Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)?

An electrocardiogram, or ECG is a quick test that uses temporary stickers placed on the chest, arms and legs that checks the heart’s electrical activity, including the heart rate and heart rhythm. An ECG shows this electrical activity as line tracings on paper, called waves.

Procedure

This procedure only takes a few minutes and consists of placing "stickers" on your child's arms, chest and legs. This test can be done lying down at rest, or during exercise as part of a stress test.

This test does not cause any pain for your child.
